Kucch Luv Jaisaa Music Review (BD)

BD Music Review : Kucch Luv Jaisaa

Kucch Luv Jaisaa
Music Director:Pritam
Lyrics:Irshad Kamil
BD Music Rating:***

Naina

Singer:Mohit Chauhan, Monali Thakur
When I saw Pritam on the cover for the music, I decided to check if Pritam is in different avatar this time or not, sadly he is not. Opening track sang beautifully by Mohit Chauhan sounds so so similar to Bheegi Si Bhaagi Si of Rajneeti. Even lyrics by Irshad Kamil with Pritam has become unanimous.Hope we see a magic with A. R. Rahman and Irshad Kamil combo in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar. And yes one more disappointment, though female singer is appointed, Mohit Chauhan sings both male and female lyrics!!!

Thoda Sa Pyar (Love And 2 Reprise Versions)
Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan, Anupum Amod,Mannan Shah, Naresh Iyer and Shefali Alvaris
Anupam Amod is astonishing once again. Sunidhi Chauhan as usual is comfortable. No innovations again in the music department.Again a soft romantic number. The whole album, thus, in a way gets monotonous.Sad but Pritam has lost sparks!

Reprise Version by Mannan Shah is a little bit more soulful than the first one.

The third and final version is the best song of the album.English portions by Shefali Alvaris is superb! Here is the innovations in music. Pritam sounds creative. But its too late as this is the last track of the album.

Baadal Pe Paon
Singer: Mannan Shah
A little better song than the first two.Sounds similar to Socha Hai with typical Jaaved Saab kinda lyrics.Yet the song is pleasant due to the new talent Mannan Shah.A descent effort.

Khwab Sa (Rock And Reprise)
Singer:Nikhil D’Souza
I am a fan of the singer since Break Ke Baad and Haunted 3 D and now KLJ. His songs are undoubtedly the highlight of the otherwise very dull album. He sounds as fresh as he did in first two albums of his. Rock version is slightly better than the reprise one. But both are very good to ears.

Yet another average album from Pritam. With all the love songs (like Dil To Bachcha Hai Jee) album is strictly for Pritam lovers only.

Luv Ka The End Music Review (BD)

BD Music Review :Luv Ka The End

Luv Ka The End
Music Director:Ram Sampath
Lyrics:Amitabh Bhattacharya
BD Music Rating:***1/2

F.U.N. Fun Funaa

Singer: Ali Zafar
Ram Sampath is a very talented music director for me.He is always fresh and never hesitating to venture new genres. His association with MTV and Bumpy, is I think is the prime reason for his appointment with this project. All his flicks Khakee, Family, Jumbo And Aagey Se Right were average but all of them had atleast one out of the box song.

This song is sadly not the one. This is a feel good Rock song we come across now and then. A mediocre effort!
Freak Out

Singer:Joi Barua, Aditi Singh Sharma
Though the song sounds to be extended version of FUN Fun Fanna, the elemental difference is lyrics.Lyrics are perfect. Very very suitable for Teens or Young age. A song which is though avoidable, graces the album.

Luv Ka The End

Singer: Aditi Singh Sharma
The front liner of the album. The song is a full on Rock song with rocking singer of Dev D fame Aditi Singh Sharma. Though its another Rock song, it surprisingly sounds different. The song is a very well conceived piece by the music director and lyricist.

The Mutton Song
Singer: Krishna
Very Very fresh song. The song deserves full score for its unique genre, singing, lyrics and most especially the unique name. Lyrics are witty, music is peppy, and singing is bang on! Ram Sampath creates a good will for his next one - Delhi Belli!

Heppy Budday Beybee
Singer:Jimmy Moses
A short piece offered as a bonus song by Jimmy Moses (Jhonny Lever's mimic).Cool!

Tonight
Singer: Suman Sridhar
A fairy tale song. This song is soothing thanks to great singing and music production. The tune is even more mesmerizing. The song gives us a very pleasant end to the album. And we hope even better next time from this talented music director.
The album has its own feel and theme. The album will mainly influence the college going students or high school teens. The High School Musical kinda songs are so on into Bollywood now!Good one!

Cast:
Tusshar Kapoor, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Preeti Desai, Pitobash Tripathy, Nikhil Dwivedi, Radhika Apte ,Sundeep Kishan ,Girija Oak
Direction:Raj Nidimoru ,Krishna D.K.

Genre:
Humor,Action,Drama

Duration:
2 hours

Movie Overview
:
This is the third hit on the row for Ekta Kapoor. First of all kudos to her. The movie released without much attention or speculation. But like all other mind blowing gems, take it Udaan or LSD or Do Dooni Chaar last year, this one is a purely reverberant.
Movie is a cock-tale of three stories simultaneously taking place in Mumbai within the span of 11 days of Ganesh Chaturthi. The narration consists of three different class and tastes having different background struggling in one or the other way to get a place in the heart of India.
Let me mention one name first of all, Pitobash Tripathy. I remember him right from the 3 Idiots. I knew the man has got the talent and he has accorded himself very well in the character. He brings in the gags in each and every scene he is featured. The film has got one of the strongest end credits and all thanks to the brilliant scene in the end credit.

Rensil has a descent debut and is same with Preeti Desai.

In the end, this Shor is a must watch!

Quick Review:

Cast:
Good performances is a key point. Zakhir Hussain and Pitobash are commendable. Rests are good. Nikhil Dwivedi is wasted.

Story And Screenplay:
Best section of the movie.Stories, though simple, are well narrated. Screenplay is engaging.Writing team comprising Raj Nidimoru, Krishna D.K., Sita Menon has done a good job.
Editing And Cinematography:
Editing is good. The track fails to show the third story connecting with the other two in the end. Tusshaar Kapoor's track could have been chopped a little.Cinematography is good. But could have been better considering the fact that the Mumbai was to be captured on celluloid.

Music And Background Score:

Music is unconventional.( Read Music Review here). All songs are used in the background score which boosts the movie in a positive way.

Direction:

Duo in the direction. And direction is definitely a strong asset of the movie.

Minus some goofs in story and editing, the film is a helluva roller-coaster ride!

Chalo Dilli Movie Review (BD)

Bollywood Dil se Movie Review:Chalo Dilli

Rating:***

Movie Information :IMDB Link

Cast: Lara Dutta, Vinay Pathak, Akshay Kumar(Do not know why he is credited with lead instead of Guest  Appearance)
Direction: Shashant Shah

Genre: Humor,Drama

Duration: 2 hours

Movie Overview :
This is the first venture of Lara Dutta as a producer (She looks dead-drop gorgeous in the movie). The so called road movie is inspired from many English flicks like "Changing Lanes" and many more. So the movie, frankly is not original unlike the last venture of director Dasvidaniya.
This is a kind of movie which is better to be enjoyed on weekends on DVD players.A good entertainer with its own loop holes (and huge loop holes).

The best thing in the movie is the star cast.

Vinay is witty and Lara is a chick!

Overall an above average movie.

Quick Review:

Cast:
Strongest section of the movie. Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak are the whole and soul of the movie. Sad that Lara Dutta has her own sweet place in Bollywood and is not a front runner in the Bollywood.

Story And Screenplay:
Arshad Sayed has done both the job loosely.Story is a mix of many different stories from Hollywood. And similarly screenplay is also distracting. The movie fails to focus on any one track and keeps on struggling to catch your attention. Film starts well but falls flat by the interval and is never picked up.Even humor quotient is less.
Editing And Cinematography:
Editing is poor. Cinematography is brilliant. Nikos Andritsakis has successfully captured spices of Rajasthan and Delhi.

Music And Background Score:
Music is poor. Background score is okay. Item song "Laila" is a good picturesque.

Direction:
Shashant Shah has his heart in his place but mind is not focused due to loose screenplay and editing.

Challo Dilli never tries to be out of the box or extravagant. The movie remains a descent entertainer from the start till the end.

Ragini MMS Movie Review (BD)

BD Movie Review :Ragini MMS

Movie Information :IMDB Link

Cast: Kainaz Motivala, Raj Kumar Yadav

Direction:Pawan Kripalani

Genre: Humour,Horror

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Movie Overview :

Its probably the first time in Indian cinema that the premier of a movie will be held after the official release of the movie. But unconventional and path breaking are the words to be associated with this film for each and every aspect.

To begin with, I am a little disappointed with Ragini MMS in terms of originality. The film has a little resemblance with paranormal activity (as it was seen in movie trailer). However makers have added the Desi spices to the movie by some Indianized dialogues (or say abuses) and strong story and sub-plots.

The genre of the movie is a winner itself. The combination of sex and horror (which was used indirectly in Bhatt's movies is the stream line here). Intentions of the film makers are very clear here.Just two elements horror and sex, no melodrama or Bollywood masala.

There are some top notch performances from the lead.Brilliant camera work and thrilling background score works as a prime factor in the movie.

Above all, you never feel boring, nor any horror sequences makes you laugh (which is a problem in Bollywood horror films). The film has progresses with its own unique screenplay.

In short, the film could have been appreciatively titled "Horror, Sex Aur Dhokha"

Quick Review:

Cast:
Real performances by Kainaz and Rajpal Yadav. Rajpal is very influential on screen. He is gracious and funny. In the frightening scenes, his screen presence and comic timing is a bang on!Kainaz has improved a lot after her bubbly Wake Up Sid.Explicit scenes are done comfortably by the lead and their chemistry is extra ordinary.

Story And Screenplay:
Story is straight without any twists and turns.Screenplay is tight and tangling.Dialouges are surprisingly fresh, witty and sultry. The dialogues (and slang) gives a good flavor to the horror movie.

Editing And Cinematography:
Editing is good.Cinematography is absolutely mind blowing. Camera work deserves appreciation. The film is shot in LSD style with mobile cam and CCTV kind of angles. But as said earlier everything associated with the movie is unconventional.

Music And Background Score:
Music is okay as there is no scope for it but background score is exceptional! Title song as said earlier deserves to be a X rated song due to mild abusive. Background score is a mile stone for horror movies considering the fact that high pitched digital sound and scorching guitars are used for score in an Indian horror movie.

Direction:
Direction is very good. The song-less movie does the trick for him. This director is a man to watch out.

Minus some originality and faulty editing, the movie is the scariest date movie of India till date.

Rating:***1/2

Luv Ka The End Movie Review (BD)

BD Movie Review :Luv Ka The End

Movie Information :IMDB Link

Cast: Shraddha Kapoor, Taaha Shah

Direction: Bumpy

Genre: Humor,Romance

Duration: 1 hour 50 minutes

Movie Overview :
The first film by youth dept. of Yashraj film "yfilms" is in a way youthful. But the film is a half baked attempt at anti-romantic comedy.

The film has a clear plot in the story. But again, it is not unique. It is an adaption from "John Tucker Must Die" but the film is never so fresh or so funny like the original.

This is the directorial debut of the Roadies director "Bumpy". But sadly, he has not that spark to create an interesting movie as he does in case of Roadies.

Movie at times looks like some American weekly soap being telecast irrespective of its poor humor quotient and much needed style statement in a youth film.

I will definitely not have Luv ka the end!

Quick Review:

Cast:
Shraddha Kapoor again fits into her shoes after Teen Patti. But yet she has a long way to go. Taha Shaah and rests are okay.Shehnaz Treasurywala is good.

Story And Screenplay:
Story is interesting but predictable.Writing, a much needed aspect in a rom - com or anti rom - com is very poor here.PJs are not enough funny to have a gag.Screenplay is good.

Editing And Cinematography:
Editing is poor. Cinematography is okay. Not much to talk about these aspects.

Music And Background Score:
Music is good and peppy. Background score is okay. Mutton song is unconventionally funny.

Direction:
Not a kick start for Bumpy. He has a long way to go!

If you like some High School Musical kind of series or some American daily soap trying to be cool or funny, you will love this. But overall the movie is strictly a one time watch for rom-com lovers and an avoidable stuff for the rest.

Haunted 3 D Movie Review (BD)

BD Movie Review : Haunted 3 D

Movie Information :IMDB Link

Cast: Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Tia Bajpai, Achint Kaur

Direction: Vikram Bhatt

Genre: Horror

Duration: 2 hours 26 minutes

Movie Overview :

Let me clarify in the beginning itself, the movie is a disaster. After all 3 D gimmicks and many more publicity stunts, the film is nothing more than a headache.

Performances are wooden.Story and screenplay (the only good thing) is adapted from the English movie 'The Entity'.

Yes there are some good shots as well.Like the one in which a dead caretaker character wreaks much havoc like leaping out of a forest to attack the protagonists, and walking sideways down a tree to scare them. But rather than that, horror looks like the slapstick comedy.

3D effect is observant in some scenes only and so there was no need to make it in 3D!

The otherwise good songs creates an irritation in the movie. You dont expect some dance sequence before  the climax scene of the movie.

In short, the movie may woe masala movie goer, but its a strict no from me.

Quick Review:

Cast:
As said earlier, wooden performances.Tia (or Twinkle or whatever) is a little better than Mimoh (or Mahakshay or whatever).

Story And Screenplay:
Story is adapted and screenplay is quirky so no comments.

Editing And Cinematography:
Editing is amateur.Movie is a hell long experience.Cinematography is good. Some sequences are shot well of course.

Music And Background Score:
Music is a hindrance to the movie. Background score is okay.

Direction:
Let me say that the direction is poor. You cant stop yourself from laughing out sometimes at bad dialouges and predictable story. This one is not even par with Bhatt standards.

The movie is a one time watch in 3D and strictly avoidable in 2D.

Stanley Ka Dabba Movie Review (BD)

Bollywood Dil Se Movie Review:Stanley Ka Dabba

Rating:****1/2

Movie Information :IMDB Link

Cast: Partho,Amole Gupte,Divya Datta

Direction: Amole Gupte

Genre: Humor,Drama

Duration: 1 hour 36 minutes

Movie Overview :

The movie first of all, has very limited shows in the multiplexes, round about two or three. And I feel they will reduce more after the Monday. But I hope the film picks up lately(chances are less because commercially more appealing Ragini MMS will definitely click) like Udaan.

The film as its subtitle says is a small film with a big heart. It is the true family entertainer. A kind of film that school kids should see to find themselves on the screen and grown ups should see for nostalgic feeling of school days.

The film, according to me is a gem because it doesnt try to be extra - ordinary or path breaking. The film remains simple, realistic and naive. The film is just like a new born baby.No lime lights or publicity stunts were done to promote the film and thats why I love it even more.

The director "Amole Gupte" (deserves the respect I have for him) has his own good story to tell which is funny (or witty) but really impulses you in the end when a simple message is conveyed in the most beautiful way!

I am glad that the movie is not Taare Zameen Par kind of film. Here is no dirty game of snatching credits and above all, no stars try to super-impose over each other ( yes main stream actors like Amole Gupte and Divya Datta are present).

The film will be cherished in my mind for a long time, Thanks Stanley!

Quick Review:

Cast:
Beautiful is the word to describe the performances. The kiddo is already a star.Amole Gupte has proved it once again that he is in the same league of Naseeruddin Shah or Irfan Khan, and he has his own place in the heart of Bollywood.

Story And Screenplay:
Story is simple yet touchy.Looks as if all the emotions of a school kid are potrayed beautifully on a celluloid.Screenplay is strong and never distracts us from the main track despite of many strong sub plots.

Editing And Cinematography:
Editing is mind blowing and cinematography (due to the fact that major portion of the movie is shot in a school) is good.

Music And Background Score:
Music is very good and suits the movie. Background score thumps the movie and helps in making it a heartthrob movie.

Direction:
Amole Gupte is brilliant and visionary once again after Taare Zameen Par ( I don't mind in calling him a director for TZP).Kudos to you sir!

The film deserves a 5* but it would be a quite heavy tag to carry for a simple and innocent movie.A gracious 4.5* will be suitable. But above all, this film should not be missed at any condition!

Pyaar Ka Punchnama Music Review (BD)

BD Music Review : Pyaar Ka Punchnama

Pyaar Ka Punchnama
Music Director:Clinton Cerejo, Hitesh Sonik, Luv Ranjan & Ad Boyz
Lyrics:Luv Ranjan & Shammi
BD Music Rating:***

Life Sahi Hai
Singer:K.K., Vishal Dadlani, Benny Dayal & Sidd Coutto
OMG! Look at the heavy batch of the singer!Do we need to say more. The rock song is completely on! Superb lyrics.Great singing.Great tune. In short the bang on song!!!!And here is the catchy one "chichorestan ke hum chaudary hai, Life sahi hai!"

Ishq Na Kariyo Kaake
Singer: Mika Singh
A typical Bhangra song with great electronic beat. Nothing to say more. Enjoyable but not hummable.
Kutta
Singer: Mika Singh
The unique thing about the song is its creative approach. The creative lyrics works in the favor and the creative music is a hindrance. The song is avoidable. Lyrics are catchy and bold.

Koi Aa Raha Paas Hai
Singer:Suraj Jagan (Sonu Nigam in Reprise)
A below the mark song. Nothing is new. Nothing to comment about. The song is too sweet to accept.Same for reprise.Strictly avoidable songs both regular and regular versions.

Chak Glassi
Singer:Monali, Suzzane (Ad Boys)
Two brilliant singers together. Whats more to expect. A complete Party Song. Beats are as usual as some bollywood track but the whole and the soul of the song is the singing by both the singers.Seems like completely wild cats out for the hunt. But yet the song remains an average one due to srtictly okay music and lyrics.Version by Ad Boys is slightly better.

Baanwre
Singers:Clinton Cerejo
A unique song with sad sufi lyrics and soft rock music. When you read the name, seems like a Sufi song but the song is a total rock. Tune is very much similar to "O Mama" considering the fact that Clinton Cerejo was associated with 7 Khoon Maaf, it is acceptable. Highlight of the song is superb drums and mind blowing singing.Nice one!

A Mixed bag overall! Only Life Sahi Hai is Path Breaking.

Character Dheela
Singer:Neeraj Shridhar, Amrita Kak
Prittam is back again. After commercially successful DMD (Read its review here ). This time he has high expectations to carry the load of Salman Khan starer movie. The opening track is a typical Salman Khan Trademark Its music video is already rocking and so is the track. Nothing new in the music section, but there is no need to experiment here. Lyrics are my goodness! so peppy. "Ishq ke naam pe karte sab abhi raas lila karte hai, main karu to saala character dheela hai" Amitabh Bhattacharya is turning to be a more commercially successful lyricist.
Humko Pyar Hua
SingerTulsi Kumar, KK
Again a Prittam track. I have a major problem with Prittam's music. He takes very calculative risks. He takes very calculative risks. He has now, stopped endeavoring new genres. And so his music seems the copy of his own songs.Nevertheless the song is pleasant.

Dhinka Chika
Singer:Mika Singh, Amrita Kak
Folks, this will be the anthem of the nation after the release of the movie. The has already rocked Tollywood and now its time for Bollywood. Glad that original composer has re composed the song. DSP of Aarya 2 has brought us the Hindi version of Ringa Ringa of the same movie. But this time with a bigger blast. Such a foot tapping composition and such a good singer - Mika add some brilliant lyrics. So the song is a perfect formula of success.

Meri Ada Bhi
Singers:Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Tulsi Kumar
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in a new genre. But this time its a miss. The overall feel of the song is not yet known to me.Its neither Sufi nor Lounge. Neither Poetry nor Qawalli, But probably the song is a fusion of all these elements plus some Bally Sagoo kind of beats. Yet the song is not convincing.

As usual in a Prittam soundtrack, all the originals are added with remixes of each one. Making a total of 8 songs (4 + 4 originals plus remixes). Prittam is as usual good but not outstanding. Overall the album is a worth buy.

BD Music Review : Stanley Ka Dabba

Stanley Ka Dabba
Music Director:Hitesh Sonik
Lyrics:Amole Gupte
BD Music Rating:****

Life Bahot Simple Hai
Singer:Shaan
Let me first say that Hitesh Sonik is not a debutant in Bollywood. He is very good music producer and has given background scores in many Vishal Bhardwaj and Anurag Kashyap movies. The opening track clarifies the purpose of the album and the movie itself. As the song says Life is simple and so is the music!Song is hummable and melodious. Reminds me of my childhood days! Lyrics by Amole Gupte are icing on the cake.
"Noodlon ke ye dhaage baandhle hum tum ko, zindagi iske aage kuch bhi mujhko nakko."

Dabba
Singer:Sukhwinder Singh
Let me clarify one more thing, it ould be a big mistake to compare the album with Taare Zameen Par, Because TZP soundtrack was brilliant but not as naive and fresh as this one.(Exceptions:Bum Bum Bole and Maa). The song has a very simple message convinced witth simple lyrics and music. Sukhwinder Singh makes its tune sound  a little like Fatak from Kaminey.A good treat anyways.

Tere Andar Bhi Hai Kahi
Singer:Vishal Dadlani , (Aditya for reprise version)
The song which I feel will highlight the whole and soul of the movie. And I expect it to be a front runner after the release of the movie. The Vishal Dadlani version is a Soft Rock track with soothing vocals. Very creative track in terms of lyrics and music.Kudos to the team. The reprise version also called as Aditya Rox is intoxicating. Even though the piece last hardly for two minutes, it leaves an impact for sure.

Nanhi Si Jaan
Singers:Shankar Mahadevan
The only reason to compare the album with TZP. But this rock song is different.Drums and Guitars are completely complementing each other.Shankar Mahadevan sings it with sheer honesty. Lyrics are self indulging.A must have!

Jhoola Jhool

Singers:Hamsika Iyer
The only song which is full of soul but lacks at music department.A slight disappointment.

 Thirsty
Instrumental
Glad that I got a chance to review an Instrumental After a long time. But sigh that the track is more of a background score than a musical instrumental.

A very good album overall. Upto the mark.Well done!
